Creating an Icon in the Industry

Jenn David Design created the package design for the introduction of La Tourangelle to the North American market almost 20 years ago and in the process created a timeless, iconic design that has sustained the growth of over 80 SKUs while retaining the very same brand design.

A Nod to the Past While Looking Ahead

A family-run oil mill, La Tourangelle was founded 150 years ago in the idyllic French town of Saumur. In 2002, the owner’s son expanded La Tourangelle operations to the United States. The goal was to expand their reach to a new market while strictly maintaining their authentic traditional oil-making methods.

Design That Remains Steady and Strong

JDD designed the packaging for La Tourangelle for the U.S. market, striking the balance of honoring their venerated French heritage while appealing to a contemporary market. La Tourangelle has since expanded into stores across the country, supported by a design that remains fresh and relevant.

Accommodating an Expanding Line

Beginning with just four products, JDD has since helped La Tourangelle expand the line into upwards of 100 SKUs. The design was intentionally flexible enough to accommodate different sizes and products yet maintain its iconic look across the extensive line. The products’ bold colors stand out in retail, and the arch on the front panel has become synonymous with the La Tourangelle brand.

Supporting an Internal Team

JDD has partnered with La Tourangelle since its establishment in North America, supporting and augmenting the efforts of their internal marketing and design team throughout nearly two decades. While their design needs varied depending on their internal configurations over the years, JDD has been there in whatever capacity was needed and still is to this day.
